Ethan Hawke's Martin Version Doesn't Look Too Convincing

Ethan Hawk's character as Costa was commendable. He looked pretty lost and clueless when he was interviewed for the first time by the detectives, and he looked innocent enough to be dismissed as the killer when the story evolved. Just when things take a twist when Costa transformed to Martin, he didn't look too menacing even though he ripped off his own mother's head in the elevator. When he had a chat with another guy he supposedly killed in the train and even when he was at Jolie's apartment when she had a bump on her belly, he just wasn't fearful enough that strikes terror in people's mind. IN other words, I didn't see the qualities of a sadistic psychopath in him. Perhaps Ethan Hawke's facial structure is too nice to render him as a villain, a really sweet handsome nice man?

Yeah, because all serial killers and sadistic psychopaths are physically imposing figures or look "menacing". You don't see the "qualities of a sadistic psychopath" from the outside, which is probably why you considered the portrayal of Costa as commendable. When he was Costa he WAS the killer. What'd you think? He would go Hulk when he "transformed" into Martin? I did not think too highly of this film, but one of the better scenes was Ethan's chat with the guy on the train. He looks friendly, approachable, "normal". That's what allows the guy to get off-guard. Have you seen pictures of real serial killers? Sure, they might not all be "handsome", but they aren't all "menacing" either.

Yes, I suppose you got a point there. Some serial killers surely look like babysitters. Surely makes sense.

Cheers.

Someone is passionate about his serial killers

I have to disagree. The interrogation scene was so laughable.
Completely unbelieaveable at all.

I have to agree with your disagreement. I don't think I've ever seen a worse actor then when he jumped at the evidence falling out of her bag during the interrogation. The whole movie is absurdly ridiculous.
