Since her friend on the Montreal police was in on it, my take was that her firing was also part of the elaborate plan to catch Costa/Asher. Really left up to the viewer.
shareIt was all part of the plan. At the end she gets on the phone (which was said she never used) and calls the agency. Told them it was done an then on the other end they said something like well done and then told her they are having someone come get her.
