Drake's Dad and Josh's Mom

I wonder why they were never mentioned?

And quite early on, Drake was calling Josh's dad 'dad,' and Josh was calling Drake and Megan's mom 'mom.' I love this programme, but that bit bugged me, as it would most likely not happen. Not if someone became your step parent when you were 15/16. No matter how good/nice/lovely/cool they were. And certainly not within a few months of knowing them!

My friend loves her stepfather, and he has been her SF since she was 12 (she is now 30) but she STILL calls him Steve. (Her father died when she was 8.) As much as she loves Steve, and as amazing as he is as a stepfather, he is NOT her father.

I think even if you had never known your birth father (like he died, or left, when you were one,) it would still be awkward/weird to call a man DAD if you didn't meet him/know him til you were 15. I would go so far as to say that many people never would call him dad, if they were virtually an adult before they knew him.
