Skinny Josh never seemed like it would work the same

I will admit i stopped watching the show around the time Josh got skinny, can't remember why, i did see a few episodes though. But Drake and Josh was supposed to be about an odd ball paring, Drake was the cool guy that got alot of girls, and Josh was the odd ball fat outcast that was never good with the ladies. Then Josh lost weight and it seems like he became similar to Drake, a good looking guy that got dates. I just feel like the concept was kinda lost when he got rid of the weight. Seems like the character of Josh wouldn't be the same if he was good looking and skinny. Also Josh's mannerisms and outbursts wouldn't seem as funny with him skinny, it just worked better when he was fat i guess being fat adds comic value to the situation.

Sure i guess Josh acted the same way but i couldn't get used to him as Josh anymore when he got skinny it seemed like someone came and replaced him. Just look at the early seasons of Josh then look at skinny Josh, its like 2 different people its kinda hard to believe its the same actor. Drake pretty much stayed the same through the whole show, but Josh i mean damn its like he went out and got plastic surgery and liposuction and became a different person. After the weight loss when he did the Josh outbursts and wacky expressions they just looked odd and not as funny.

Look at like this imagine Chris Farley skinny and acting the same way in his movies, it would look weird and not as funny. Maybe its just me though.

I get what your saying but IMO Josh lost weight not ablity entertain. They were an odd couple, but I thought that they took their roles too far. With Joshs change made it more of a level plating field. Both actors are great actor with physical humor.

Besides fat or thin Josh is a dork. I love his new show Grandfathered. He looks so different its been 10 years after all but he is still a dork.

I also get it, and to an extent I agree. Luckily Josh had good enough acting chops to where the personality difference still worked, but it's true there was a physical aspect at first that made it more obvious.

To me it also made it interesting to see Josh get better looking. Everybody roots for the dork to get the girl, it was a nice twist to see him become increasingly successful and eventually have something to compete with Drake on. The whole geek-gets-rejected thing gets old after a while. Plus that'd be pretty bad on Dan Schneider's part to tell an actor he can't lose weight and get healthier, especially on a kids' show. It was a good moral for viewers to show that even if you're a dork in high school, you can still grow up to be the ladies' man (or other way around). That's something that every teenager needs to hear.
