Josh and Mindy got back together in REALLY BIG SHRIMP

And then in the Dance Contest episode (2 episodes later,) Mindy was Josh's ex again. But there was no mention of them breaking up.

Also, Drake got a record deal in 'The Really Big Shrimp,' Close to the end of Season 4, and yet nothing was mentioned in the next few episodes.

I do love Drake and Josh, but sometimes the lack of consistency in the storylines and the lack of continuity is a bit frustrating.

I don't expect it to be perfect as it's a kid's show at the end of the day, but the lack of continuity with Josh and Mindy's getting back together and then being finished, and Drake getting a RECORD CONTRACT which was not mentioned for the next 2 episodes was piss poor. Especially as Drake was worried about repeating 11th grade. Why would he care if he had a record contract with a major record label?!

Dance Contest took place before Really Big Shrimp. That's why Josh and Mindy were not boyfriend and girlfriend at the time.

Really Big Shrimp takes place after Dance Contest. Really Big Shrimp is the technical series finale, the only reason Dance Contest aired after it was because of scheduling conflicts with Nickelodeon. But yeah, in Dance Contest none of the events of Really Big Shrimp have happened yet.

It's possible that episodes don't happen in the order they were released.

Yeah Nick's pretty infamous with airing eps out of order. Apparently they did that all the time with iCarly which pissed off Schneider to holy hell.
