Why it didn't quite work, IMO...
My honest opinion, as someone who doesn't really have any negative or positive feelings towards the Olsen twins is that this movie was almost alright.
Almost in that the idea was pretty kooky (ripped-off, yeah, but kooky non-the-less), and certain chunks of the movie were pretty palatable. I really feel that the main problem started to arise when Jared Padalecki's character joined the bunch. Don't get me wrong, I'm a Jared fan but I felt embarrassed for him during this movie.
His character is just so empty. If I found twins in my hotel room (hot or not) I'd freak out, but Trey? Nooo, he starts chatting away to them like he's their best friend. It all became very awkward to watch - like "Am I supposed to believe that this would actually happen?".
And then Riley Smith (Jim) was no better, both of the guys decide they like the twins for no reason other than their looks, there's no development at all (except for a few slow motion hair flicks) but suddenly the guys are following them around like love sick puppies.
This is all fine for a PG movie (which it is) but I just think that if the twins want to be seen as adults, they're gonna need to start accepting roles in movies with a well-written script.
