To those who say this film is 'racist'........... .................

To those who say this film is "racist",

c'mon and admit that the only reason your saying this is because it was made by white people.

blacks have made about twenty of these films and there wasn't any big fuss, but if a white does the same humor the EXACT SAME FREAKIN' WAY you idiotsticks scream racism.

I mean really, BarberShop had "sassy blacks, and and an arabian who owned a convience store in BOTH movies. Not to mention that in just about every single movie starring Queen Latifa she plays the exact same character as was the one in NYM, this goes for Barbershop 2, Bringing Down The House, the upcoming Beautyshop(spinoff of Barbershop), and upcoming movie Taxi.

Let's not forget the eighty-five million racial jokes about whites that are made in the majority of black comedies that come out, such as White Chicks.

It's incredible to hear minorites scream equalty of the races and say how racism is wrong and then not allow whites to use the same exact humor their using.

Hear hear!

I'm sick of that myself. Same with stand up comedy. It just amazes me that I can tell a joke about an black guy, and they get extremely offended, but then they turn around and tell jokes about a white guy and think it's hiarious. It's completely a double standard.

The whole race issue in the U.S. is this. People want tension between the races, and the proof is, you notice that on surveys, and other things, one of the questions is what ethnic group do you belong to? They list hispanic, caucasian african american, native american.... yeah? see my point?

Drop the labels and people will probably get along alot better no matter the color of their skin or any other of those factors.

I like Chris Rock because he'll make fun of everybody.

Ain't that the truth. They want to be called "African Americans"...what's wrong with just "Americans"? Are they ashamed of being American? Were they actually born in Africa? (usually no).

I agree: drop the labels. We're all "people".

I also agree about how they're allowed to make jokes at white people ALL the time (and even make movies based on it) but if we say the slightest racist comment, they get all bitchy and sue.

I agree the double standard exists, but I believe it exists for one reason...

...white people just dont care. White people do not get offended.

If anything, racist white people are HAPPY this double standard exists, because they can use this fact to further their racist attitude.

Incidentally, this double standard does not just apply to blacks, but to ANYONE who is not white. There is more overt racism within minority communities than anywhere, and you will NEVER EVER EVER hear on the news, or read it in a mainstream newspaper. If a white person is not a party to a racist incident, no one cares. Minorities talk about it amongs themselves, but you will never hear Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, or Louis Farakhan speak about racism by Hispanics toward blacks.

If all were equal, and whites, hispanics, an blacks had equal power, then the same standards of racism would be applied to everyone.

In my experience, this is reality: Blacks think of black people as black people, and white people as white people. Whites think of black people as black people, and white people as people.

Obviously there are exceptions to everything I have stated, but the exception does not outweigh the rule.

Oh, and about the movie... I thought it sucked.

reply

Yeah is the label created by society...we're all humans but those labels will never disappear because people love to be label it makes then feel superior than other races or groups....By the way i'm a black man and i was born i have always live in Puerto Rico Peeace!...

P.S. This movie sucks and whats with the Metallica shirt f-ing poser!

It was racist. That black woman called the white guy a "cracker" and still was viewed as a hero. Imagine if a white called a black a nig, and then was made to be the good guy. It will never happen in the elite controled liberal Hollywood. Only anti-white bigotry is allowed.

reply

It's a corny movie, stop being so critical. I bet when they made the movie, they never even thought of racism.

The "arabian" in that movie was Punjabi Indian. The character says so himself.

Well than some whites are stupid, but not just whites...EVERYONE. Oh, please have a different name for ''whites'' put ''troubled whites'' becuase it sounds like your saying all whites act like that. Yes, Blacks were treated unfairly, but only in some states, and the president hated Blacks not having any rights. Califorina on the other hand was anti-slavery and treated everyone equal. Same with another 40 states. People who are racists dont go far in life, becuase they are criminals. They are just as bad as murders, Africans do really bad things too, so we are indeed equal. Some men get offended from women, some women get offended from men, kinda like racism really. Becuase they dont like them for who they are, and what they look like.

Not all White people were rich slave owners...some white people were actually slaves themsleves. Also, who ever said the comment about black ppl wanting to be called african americans...not all do, i have a friend from Jamaica and she hates that term..she's not from Africa, neither are her family...so why be called African American? I understand people who are African want to be called that, but it became such a used term, that it does offend some black people that I know because they aren't from Africa

reply

I hope that was a sarcastic post. California was about the only state opposed to the 14th amendment because they knew it would include the Chinese.
And racist people can go very far in life. The 'good ol boys' club very much exists today in every area with wealth. Segregation is still alive and thriving through economic means now, rather than legal. Just look at who lives under the poverty line and who's incarcerated, it's not a coincidence that they are minorities. American equality is the illusion created to help kids sleep better at night.
