Unarmed Cops

Perps have knives or worse and the cops are unarmed. Yet they always win. How realistic is this?

Most cops are unarmed in the UK.

And I would imagine the crooks (even armed ones) know this and therefore try to avoid killing them because killing an unarmed cop and getting caught would send you up for a very long time.

UK Police Forces have armed squads that are called in for backup in dangerous cases.
