What the hell did Stevie see in Reznik

sorry it can't be just me thinking wtf it's gotta be a movie when that good-looking girl is falling for Reznik

^ why did u delete your post? This guy made some good points.

He thought that Stevie, being an "escort" really wouldn't have had that good a choice in the men she could be with. Also that she liked Reznik as he not only hung around as a friend, he also paid her simply for her time and not just for sex.

reply

Maybe she's just not so shallow that she can only see someone for their looks.

Here's my interpretation.

She's had a hard life with complicated relationships (violent *beep* She's always been the vulnerable one. Now there's this reserved but very caring guy who treats her nice, pays well and seeing her for more than just sex. For once she feels like she's the strong one and can take care of him.

I also thought they might have been sleeping together prior to the 'incident' and before he lost all that weight. In which case she would have known him when he probably was A) Attractive or at least, a little less emaciated and B) A cocky git. Maybe the change in his personality also attracted her to him? She could see how he'd changed from this arrogant idiot to a more sensitive, albeit, thin man.

reply

Uh... guys, she's a prostitute. She's not hardcore... just a girl trying to pay the bills, but there is no question that she is charging him for time in bed. There are a lot of girls like her out there... um, I... hope you're not all under 15... if so please disregard everything I wrote above.

reply

She is trying to pay the bills, yes, but I think her attraction to Reznik comes from the fact that he is not just paying for her body. He pays for her company as a friend, as well as sex. As we see in one scene, she is often beaten up by the men who pay her visits, so when someone like Reznik comes into her life who is more interested in her company than sex, that must be an endearing trait.

I agree with steve jackson. Reznik treated her like a human being, not a whore or a punching bag.

"good looking girl"?

reply

Better looking than any girl you'll ever have.

Watching these two broken people come together and sharing a brief moment of happiness and hope before being ripped apart was just brutal. We know Trevor's fate, but it's not hard to imagine that Stevie put a lock on her heart for good and went right back to "hooking".

I guess it's rare for a guy to treat a hooker with respect, and like a friend. I can understand why she wanted to help him out; he was good to her..

He was kind and cared for her, all you really need is the scene where he sees her bruised face.

Most men treated her like a hooker - Reznik only paid & banged her like a hooker
