Could Mr Lapadite have refused any of Landa's err "demands" or "requests" made at the beginning.

Could he have also DENIED hiding any Jews in that floorboard in his home and say "There's nothing here" and would that make Landa walk away etc?

Also, could he even have disagreed with anything he said? He just seemed to accept everything without any resistance whatsoever.

Could he have also claimed he wasn't Lapadite?

Or was Landa way too powerful? Cheers.

In my life, I often got told off, refused to talk to etc for far less.

And I never, for example, had a stranger like that "invite" me to his home and have, even under duress, a type of friendly conversation with me where he ALMOST AGREED on EVERYTHING I said or ASKED.

In my life I often even suffered the opposites, then again, we all did but then also again...

I wasn't some powerful Nazi with massive influences and who could threaten people like that and not be called out on it or any of other flaws of mine. And online, if I was like that man and I tried to act all demanding and have someone kowtow to me, indulge me etc and make me feel euphoric about my life and a life, I would be called a "troll" etc and often dismissed out of hand for one reason or another. But that's understandable as well. And I DID have such moments but don't you worry folks, almost ALL OF US DID.

Pity internet wasn't around in the 1940s haha. And oh well...

I think he could have, but then Landa mentioned the floorboards, and that changed everything. He was going to have a complete search of the place, and Mr. Lapadite knew it, so he had to come forward or it would have been the end of him.

He could probably disagree to anything *once*.
