Black's bad acting...

Jack Black's bad acting nearly ruins this film, for me. He doesn't have the acting chops for a dramatic role like the one he played.

I don't think his acting was that bad, but he was definitely miscast here.

I don't think his acting was that bad, either. Miscast? Not really, not in terms of how the character's written.

I came here to say the same thing. JB shines in the right role, this just wasn't it.

He did well with the material. It's more an issue of him being miscast. His voice, mannerisms, etc just didn't suit a character like Denham.

That all said, I do like to view Black's version of Denham as a very interesting take on the character.

I looove his acting here! He is so over the top that it is hard not to enjoy it. But what I would agree on is that he was somehow miscast, especially if his role needed to be more dramatic. Still, he was great imo

I never was a huge Jack Black fan.

Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, and My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic fan

he always looks like he needs a shower, he slurs every line, and he's completely unconvincing. inexplicable actor #364, just above kevin hart and below amy schumer.

reply

He was good here. He's just too associated with comedy to be taken serious as a dramatic actor.

He tried but was miscast.

Paul Giamatti would have been perfect for that role.

I think he was at the level he normally is,... which is terrible.
