When does this take place?

I'm pretty sure LIFE's last print issue was 2007, and the whole internet buffering thing when you Google something supports that. However, the guy on the boat mentions how Sean gave him some photo tips for his instagram. This was launched in 2010. With as fast as technology moves, fudging these dates ends up creating a whole bunch of weird paradoxes like this. This was a really good movie, but this issue was weird to me. Also I thought his fantasies were way too overblown, and they could have communicated the same idea without big CGI set pieces. The end is very satisfying though, probably because his daydreaming days are over and he's living life, which is what the viewer wants for him.
