Did this movie get much promotion/marketing?

I ask because I had been hearing for years about a planned remake/update of the old Danny Kaye being in the works. I was quite interested in seeing it. For the life of me, though, I don't remember seeing a single tv/print media ad for it, or even anything online that I can recall.

To be completely honest, I didn't even know it had been filmed and released until I stumbled on the entry tonight. Did it get released in a "dump month", or was I just snorting too much nitrous oxide in 2013 to notice?

I remember this being released late in 2013 to absolutely no fanfare. I read one review, which I believe panned it, and it seemed to disappear right after opening weekend. I was under the impression that it was a children's fantasy film because it was rated PG (which seems to be the new G). Instead, it's a smart, sensitive film for smart, sensitive people of all ages.

I remember seeing a few trailers for it on network television a few weeks before Christmas and thinking it looked great. Saw it a few days after Christmas and yeah, it was fantastic.
