The flip phone!

Let me start off by saying I enjoyed this film on the first go around.
I just watched it again, and as someone mentioned,it's definitely one of those movies you have to watch more than once. I enjoyed the nuances missed on the first pass such as Shirley Maclaine and Sean Penn's small gestures and reactions, and really enjoyed the soundtrack and cinematography.

Oh and flow of the movie hiccuped for me each time that flip phone was used in the boonies. But over all, it was a well spent 2 hours!

This movie had a lot of out-of-time elements, which was intentional. It picks and chooses from various eras, which is an interesting touch. And of course, Life magazine ended in 1972, long before anyone had phones that flip.

Life was published weekly until 1972, as an intermittent "special" until 1978, and as a monthly from 1978 to 2002.

2002 would be in the ballpark for shutting down a print magazine and moving it to the web. So, the writers weren't too far from real life.

I use a flip phone in 2016 for its small size, light weight and 7 day battery life.
