I have been reading the comments about how great people think this film is how it deserved an Oscar. you do realize it is a remake right?

I agree that it didn't deserve an Oscar. I liked it alot, but no. But are you saying a remake can't win an Oscar? Like there is some kind of rule - I never heard of that.

Why do you care? If people felt it was great, then it was great. Why would it being a remake change that?

Who said remakes can't win Oscars????? I guess you don't realize that The Departed which won 4 Oscars including Best Picture was a remake.

The Secret Life of Walter Mitty was a short story written by James Thurber. It spawned two film adaptations. One from 1947 and this one. This is a newer adaptation. NOT a remake.

I agree with that this is not a remake. I saw the Danny Kaye 1947 movie not long ago and there is very little comparison in how the story is told.

Its as much a remake of the 1947 film as "Scrooged" is to "A Christmas Carol".

It's not a remake. It's a modern retelling of the James Thurber story.
