This will probably become a cult classic
The more I think about this film, the more I realize that it was actually destined to be slammed by the first few critics to review it and dismissed by the general public. Given that we live in a world of YA adaptations and sequels, I think people just weren't ready for something this unique and remarkable. Maybe it needed time. In fact, I think it's already gaining a bit of a cult status. I have called this film a masterpiece in a previous thread, but I'm going to give it about 10 or 15 years to see if I'm right.
