Not what I hoped for

I thought this was going to be a thought-provoking movie, but it wasn't. I watched it on DVD, so I was able to pause and rewind, yet none of the concepts of existentialism were explained with any clarity. I did laugh out loud at certain scenes, but nothing truly thought provoking came from ideas about the "infinity". It sounds interesting in theory, but no real premise.

None of the philosophical ideas are handled with any seriousness in this film, which I think is ultimately the point. If you deconstruct everything down to particles and nothingness, and then say that nothingness is everything, then there's an inherent absurdity there that the film does reveal. I mean, existential detectives? The red ball thing? None of it should be taken too seriously, but these characters do take it seriously and I think that's where the film does speak to some truth.

You can worry and fret about all of these clashing and conflicting philosophies, but none of them are a cure for human drama. If anything, these ideas should help you think outside of yourself and give you some sort of perspective. That's what we see happen with the majority of the characters in this film.

I think there's been a rape up there!
