They're all just the most unpleasant people you'd ever met

Watched this movie just recently and i can't believe how awful every single person in this movie was. Not from an acting perspective, they all did quite well. But they were all just the most unlikeable characters i've ever seen. I guess that must have been what they were going for.

The mother was so over the top antagonistic from the start against SJP's character, for no real reason than "she's stealing my son away from me". She was so selfish, self-righteous and pouty when things didn't go her way.

Everett was probably the most boring man i've ever seen in a film. I will take this opportunity to knock the actor as well. What a boring performance. There was nothing interesting about him at all. I didn't believe at all that he was a member of the quirky outgoing family. Every line he delivered was completely vanilla. And since he was trying to defend his future fiancé to everybody while at the same time being in denial about his true feelings about said fiancé - he was a total dick to EVERYONE in the move.

but SJP was probably the most unpleasant person. they definitely succeeded in her portrayal of an unlikeable character. personally I don't think it was a stretch for Parker. All her characters seem to be a very short extension of her bland personality and this was nothing more than that.

I don't really know what to say. She was just so damn unpleasant. How could anybody want to marry her? She wasn't happy. EVER! She was whiney, opinionated, self absorbed, annoying - and most of all she couldn't for the life of her figure out why people didn't like her.

An interesting movie concept, but not one that i'd watch over and over again. A film about unpleasant people spending the whole movie pretty much not liking each other is not a very fun time IMO
