Watching it again...I still really hate the ring part

Where Everett asks his mom for the ring (the one she promised to give him) and her reaction was tough *beep* The part that I hate specifically is when she goes on to say, "I know you're disappointed, but think of how I feel." What a selfish, stuck-up bitch.

No one took the time to attempt to get to know Meredith, they just followed what Amy said and treated her horribly. You can totally see how uncomfortable Meredith is with being there and the family just made it worse!

Also, seriously? What kind of sister would be okay with stealing her sister's boyfriend/almost fiance? Connection or not, that's wrong and there's no way you wouldn't feel guilty for doing something like that.

I agree, that part makes me cringe. It is not up to the mother who he marries and for her to deny the ring she promised him...especially based on her judgement of Meredith after a couple days. And of course Meredith is going to act weird and be uncomfortable, it's hard enough meeting a boyfriend's family, let alone staying at their house for a holiday AND add in the fact that their all a-holes.

The mother reminded me of a 14 year old girl who treats someone based of what her other 14 year old friend told her (ie her daughter). I mean yeah Meredith doesn't come off well during that dinner conversation, but that's only after being treated like crap for days and being horrible uncomfortable, stumbling over her words and not being able to explain what she meant. I don't think she meant any harm, she was genuinly curious and they jumped all over her. Nobody said a word when her sister asked about the race of the baby.

I could see their behavior a little if Meredith was a bad person and treated her boyfriend badly, but they all judged her like little kids without even giving her a chance. And if she was so bad, why were they all ok with her ending up with the brother?

She knew that he didn't really love her. I don't think it really had anything to do with Meredith...she just knew they weren't meant for each other.

Also, Meredith fell for his brother anyways, so they were pretty much equal.
