so at the end, when they are all staring at the Christmas tree, it being the first year Mom is Gone, nobody is just straight out balling and crying ..they just stare at the tree..odd

Besides, everyone handles these things differently, and with all the family members, girlfriends and new babies in the house, they had a lot to focus on in that particular moment. People were streaming into the house, they were setting up Christmas decorations, and it was just a busy time.
Amy looked like she was about to break down at the end, but when Brad asked it she was okay, she quickly pulled it together and refrained from crying, which actually fit her personality really well.
