The writers really did something amazing...

They made you hate a cancer patient. Walter White was more likeable than Diane Keaton in this movie. What a truly horrible and selfish woman. The movie is still playing, so I am surely rooting for her to die. C'mon Cancer!! Take this awful shrew away!!!

Don't be ridiculous. They were both a$$holes, but at the end of the day she was a mother who wanted the best for her family and he was a meth kingpin whose hubris destroyed his family.

Stop! Manners time.

What utter nonsense. The way people on this page talk, you must have seen another cut of this film where she spits in Meredith's face and calls her a prostitute.

This character is dying and doesn't want to spoil her children's Christmas. It is going to be her last Christmas with her family and she knows it - I'm not sure if you can appreciate how heartbreaking this is, but try. She's not particularly happy that this is important occasion is being invaded by a stranger, and she's even less happy when she realises how wrong this woman is for her son - at one point she even states that she knows she won't be there to pick up the pieces when it goes wrong. She is hostile to Meredith and at times sarcastic, but she is not hideous to her by any means. The sister is, but she's already met her and already doesn't like her - they are very different people.

Having lost my own mother to cancer a few months ago I now have an even deeper appreciation for this film, which is exceptionally honest and astute.
