Amazing script.

I have seen this three times now, and I always discover new things. Most Hollywood dramafilms bore me to death these days, but when I see The Family Stone I have to pay close attention. I like that very much. I also love that this movie has the guts to be so mean at times. That made me really care in the end. The charaters are very interesting even when they do or say annyoing things. Bravo.

Agreed. It's a stunning script, and a wonderful film. It's not all sweetness and light, it's full of real relationship dynamics, it's fantastic.

Yes even when people are "mean" you can understand where they are coming from. Many families are very protective and a bit sceptical about someone new coming in. In a deleted scene there is even more explonation why Amy is the way she is. Each person in this film is so well fleshed out you can almost feel their backstory if that makes any sense. For me this film is an absolute classic.

This is true. As irritating as their meanness first comes across, people don't exist in a vacuum. There are reasons for their behaviors. In this movie, it's nice to see how the characters prove themselves dynamic as they come to terms with who they are, how they are, and make an attempt to change.
