The dream that Ben had of Meredith... where he said he saw her as a little kid with a red shovel, shoveling snow and that he was the snow. He said where ever the snow would fall meaning him, she would scoop him up. What did this all mean? It seemed very important for their relationship to start or something like that. Sorry if I don't make any sense in advance.

shareTo me the problem with Merideth and Ben, and the ultimate problem the family had with her, is that she was changing him. She was very uptight and rigid, the family was free spirited. He was becoming rigid and overly controlled in being with her. I think the dream shows that. He is snow and she is moving him? He knows she is reshaping him, whether consciously or not, and it doesn't fit with his background and personality. That's why they didn't work.
Now the brother seemed very secure and set in his personality so she wouldn't change him as much. In fact, he brought out the more relaxed side of her. To me, that's why they worked much better as a couple.
Ben is the brother, Everett was the fiance. It was Ben who had the dream about her scooping him up.

Dangit! You're right, I mixed the brothers up. I still think my theory works though. Ben's personality seems more secure and he can go with the flow more, even if she tried to change him (intentionally or not) he would just roll with it where Everett became more like her. He seemed awfully rigid and stuffy to have come from that family.
