What was Everett going to say to/ask Meredith?

Just before Meredith's meltdown, she tells Everett (in front of the whole family) she won't marry him. It turns out he wasn't going to propose, but he was going to say *something* to her, in front of the family. What the heck was it? Was he going to break up with her? He must have had something planned.

At any rate, Everett eas a drip, and the worst character in the movie. Yes, worse than Sybil, Amy and Thad!

Good question.

Everett was a typical first born: perfectionist, achiever, etc. Meredith was going to be his trophy wife. His family could see the handwriting on the wall, especially Mrs. Stone. She finally agreed to give Everett the ring, yet he had already realized his motives were flawed. He wanted Julie.

So yes, I think he was going to break up with Meredith and possibly admit an attraction to Julie. That is the part that is a stretch for me, that Everett fell head over heals over someone he doesn't know, the sibling of his girlfriend no less. That's more of a Jerry Springer theme.

I'm assuming he was going to tell her things weren't working out between them or something. I don't know why he would've picked that moment to tell her.

I was going to say….I hope he wasn't going to break up with her in front of the family. He was already a heel. Never seemed to like Meredith all that much to begin with. Falls for her sister at first glance when he's supposed to be marrying Meredith. And if he was going to drop that bombshell on her in front of the family…..that would make him a first class heel. He already isn't likable to begin with.
