No offense to Caucasians, but...

Is this how you all mostly act? Like, if someone in your family has sex with someone they're trying to bring into your family with another family member, it's okay? Is this normal?

Oh, this movie is terrible.

reply

It is not at all normal, and unbelievable even in this horrible movie where everything is exaggerated beyond belief.

reply

Why would you ever think this is "white behavior?"

reply

A lot of people assume a lot of things. I'm certain the OP isn't the first person to make a broad generalization based on skin color and anecdotal evidence.

Maybe not, but he may be the first to do so based off of a film that was clearly as outrageous as this one was in every possible way.

Still Shooting With Film!

Just the fact that you asked that question and put it those terms ... "You all" is an inflammatory, dividing statement. African Americans would be horrified if I (as a white person) referred to your race as "you all". Forget the movie, the way you phrased your question proves that ALL races are confused about each other's needs, preferences, motives, and behaviors. BUT, unlike Blacks, I don't mind being called White. I don't demand to be called Caucasian..... So who is it that is really the racist here. The answer is----we ALL are. And honestly, what is wrong with that? We are all always going to be questioning of people who are different from ourselves. That will NEVER go away.
Which leads me to your specific observation about the movie, Again, it is not only Whites who act like that, it is anyone, or everyone. Any family, regardless of race can be abrasive to newcomers. If I'm abrasive towards a Black person, than most would call me a racist..... But what if I am like that towards everyone in my life?? We cannot be so quick to label someone as racist, or do what you're doing which is assuming that tge people in the movie reflect White people.

Those people don't necessarily reflect how Whites are towards newcomers. Those people may be horrible to each other, their other distant
relatives, coworkers, and the Fed Ex man. I hope my point is clear. Let's not make this a "white" thing and then bitch when we assume something is a "black thing". That's NOT fair. And THAT IS racism.

reply

I love how the OP doesn't state his/her race and you just automatically assume they are black. That says a lot about you.

Just so there is no confusion....I just asked the OP what race they are. Since they used the word "Caucasian" and the phrase "you all". In the meantime, I stand by my previous post. I was reacting to the OP's use of words. I don't believe I wrote anything that should be construed as antagonizing.

reply

Hey, doesn't everyone know, when someone says something offensive, if they start off by saying "no offense but.."; we aren't allowed to take offense at it?

Gee Woodle, Space Kadoodle!

reply

Why do you assume the OP is black? LOL, the irony is very thick here.

reply

Wat?

reply

Not sure what you mean.
Ben slept on the floor. So Meredith and Ben didn't really have sex right?

The Stones were a family that came off as a bit wacky, but that was part of the charm of the movie. At least the parents loved all their children unconditionally. That is a lot more than many Caucasians and others can claim.

reply

No offense to you, but grab a steak knife and run into it.

MESSAGE TO OP: Can you clarify what you mean by "you all"? Are you not Caucasian? What race are you? Inquiring minds would like to know!
