I think she was just uncomfortable, like she admitted being in the bar scene. When she was with Ben she was cuddly and sweet.
That family treated her like *beep* and they just didn't understand why she acted uncomfortable. Lol
Everyone in that family is basically an *beep* and the funny thing is they think they're all nice, laid back, and cool. Especially the mom. She even had cancer, and she was still unlikable.

I know Meredith appeared uptight and couldn't let loose or whatever but she ultimately had the arch and changed but the Stones did not and stayed their rude and condescending selves. Never bothering to let her in until the end and she ended up with a different brother? So weird.
