Why the low rating?

It deserves a lot more than five stars. Definitely. Hilary Duff isn't a bad person or actress, if that's the reason.
I happen to like it.
And while I know it's not exactly a great movie, it deserves at least seven. Am I right or wrong?

I think this must be one of the wors movies I ever seen! Please, Hilary Duff is a terrible actress and this movie doesnt deserve at least seven stars at all. This movie is far overrated as it is and you cant possibly compare this terrible little story with movies such as "The Life of David Gale", "Master and Commander", "I am Sam" and so on... You are wrong!

reply

...Okay...

I'm not comparing this to anything. I'm rating it. As a movie by itself.

I've never seen any of the movies you've just mentioned, anyway. Nor heard of them, sans "I Am Sam."

I'm usually not very strict on movies, like ... I enjoy sort of everything and am not easily bored. I don't think Hilary is a bad actress, so far I've enjoyed lots of her films even though they were far from 'good movies' and I love Lizzie McGuire but this has got to be the worst film I have ever seen in my entire life (together with Norbit). Everything just went way over the top, everything, the jokes, the overacting, the cliché, everything ... sigh.

This movie deserves an even lower rating.

It is a very predictable film, but remember it is based on the fairy tail Cinderella. It predictable in the way it all works out in the end, what would you say if the Stepmother and the ugly stepsisters were to get their own way...you would say its not true to the tail, same as the Titanic never sank.

As i said in responce to Another Cinderella Story, this is a feel good family movie that is none offencive and you can just turn off your brain for an hour and half and relax.

I think 5 stars is where it belongs, its average, a little OTT but never the less its entertaining.

Seriously, the acting is pretty bad and it's not very well written. The only thing that impressed me was that they got Regina King (Rhonda) to do it! She was great, as usual. The guy friend (Carter?) was good, I guess. Everyone else fell flat or played one note the whole movie through. Sure it's predictable, it would kind of have to be, and that is expected, but overall, it's just not a well-made film. Ahh, well, my kids love it!

A lot more than five stars? I'm sorry, but that is not how the rating scale works on this site. I'd give it at the very most six stars. The movie is full of inconsistencies and pointless, cheesy quotes. It's the movie that I watch when I am in the mood for relaxation and fun, not quality.
