Why did he suddenly not like her?

I don't get it. His loser exgirlfriend puts on this skit that does nothing but read their emails out loud and identify Sam as Princetongirl. There were no earth shattering revelations about her, and suddenly Austin gives up completely on his 'Cinderella'. All this skit did was identify her and show what a bitchface his ex is.

I could see him reacting like he did if, say, it turned out Princetongirl was a man, but it was nothing like that.

I think he was trying to keep up appearances. Everyone was laughing at Sam and I think he was afraid everyone would laugh at him if he dated her. Afterall, he was popular and she wasn't.

At the end of the film he realizes that Sam is more important than popularity which is why he stands up to his dad and quits the team to be with her.

Well, I'm not sure that he didn't like her. He was just afraid to contact her because she was not part of the in-crowd. She was not considered cool. And it was just awkward for him to talk to her after finding out she was the average diner girl his friends had all picked on.

Yeah, that is considered bullying. That was unrealistic that they were never punished.

That part always bothered me too! It made no sense, I mean he made it clear to Sam when she was "Cinderella" that he didn't care what people thought and didn't really want to be part of the "In crowd" anymore. He couldn't stand Shelby which is why he broke up with her. He acted like he didn't care about dating a "popular" girl anymore from the way he was talking, he spoke to "Princeton Girl" all those months on the internet and he knew the kind of person she was, he knew that she wasn't part of the "In Crowd" she had told him how she had never felt that she had belong. Yet he was so upset when he found out it was Sam?

Didn't make sense.

I think he basically didn't have a backbone when it came to it... As Sam said, he was "disappointing". But later he found one!

I think he also got a shock and didn't know what to do in front of everyone.

He really let her down!

I thought he didn't like her because he thought she exposed them and leaked all their conversations?!
