Why Do I Love This Movie So Much?

I saw this movie shortly after I visited Europe for the first time.

Is that why I think "Eurotrip" is so great?

Maybe it's incredibly sexy, wholesome, girl next door thing that Michelle Trachtenburg has going on.

Maybe its the "Robot Mime" scene. Or the "Gay Italian on Train" scene. Or the "You kissed your sister, dude!" scene. Or the "hot girls in the Jacuzzi" scene.

Maybe that's it: there are so many funny scenes, and so much funny dialog. And like the earlier reviewer said, it's never mean spirited or crude. Well, maybe a little crude. Maybe that's it?

Perfectly said, guilty pleasure.

I....just....cannot....resist.....watching.

I have turned several friends onto this movie that had never heard of it, since it vanished from the theaters almost instantaneously.

Scotty Doesn't Know...is classic.

I even installed the "mail mutha *beep* a" wav file as my Microsoft Outlook new mail audio notification.

I agree, even though the plot of the movie is outlandish, I still love this movie!

one of my favorite comedies.

You and I love it so much because it's just extremely funny and it has some very hot babes in it.

It doesn't take itself too seriously and has laughs in nearly every single scene. Plus, it's greatly un-PC with Cooper saying "What a retard", the girl in the hot tub rubbing her boob, making fun of the French, etc.

It's not hard to figure out, it's just terribly entertaining from beginning to end. I have it on DVD and have practically worn it out. It reminds me of the great Jim Wynorski B movies that were just fun.

I just finished watching this movie, and I really liked it. I'm 25 year old woman, so it's not the nudity or whatever that appeals to me. There are some really funny moments and non-outlandish characters in a very outlandish plot (sometimes comedies tend to have one very annoying very over-exaggerated character which this did not have). I remember when this movie came out in 2004, and it was screened at my college (the exterior shots of the college are filmed at UCLA where I was a student even), but I didn't make it out to the sneak peak. I just remember hearing that Matt Damon had a cameo. Lots of my friends watched and liked it, but they usually say that about every free movie they saw. So it took me some years to finally get to it, and it's really funny. The Robot Mime scene is great, the "hash" brownie scenes, omg, so hilarious...and I liked how everything fell into place or connected. Underrated. I think it's right up there with Superbad and Pineapple Express to me now.

As for your European trip, I watched The Spanish Apartment the summer I came home from a trip to Spain, and it made the movie just extra special to me. There's one scene when they're at a club/bar that I also visited, so it was fun to see it on film.

25 year old women and the appeal of nudity...these are not mutually exclusive...plus, there's lots of male nudity as well, such as the sausage-fest at the nude beach.

dude, don't question it. it's legitimately a great comedy. and i'm saying that of course on the sliding scale ... compare it to "road trip" or "boat trip" or any other abortions of film with the word "trip" in their titles. i mean, it's completely goofy of course (i mean, come on, why didn't he send the damn girl an e-mail from a different address?! they couldn't think of a better way to get his ass over to germany? but that's just it - WHO CARES!) i call it "the inception effect" - not a perfect movie of course, but when compared to other summer blockbuster action movies its a work of god*beep* art. sliding scale, man.

(P.S. the bit where they realize they're in eastern europe? priceless)

I'm 48 and I still love this movie, it's actually one of my all time favorite comedies. It never slows down! I have watched it probably 20 times and it's still fresh.

The soundtrack is great too!

I can watch this movie over and over again and not get sick of it. This and National Lampoon's European Vacation are two of my favorite comedy movies.

reply

I like the actors. The movie has a well-paced, fun vibe, but it's not as funny or entertaining as I wish it were.

One of the great underrated comedies.
