What if the CGI was replaced w/ practical effects and it was R rated?

I really think if this had felt grimmier and lo-tech like Gilliam's other films, it really would have improved it. Sure the plot and all would still be the same, but I think I would be more forgiving if it felt more like Timebandits and Jabberwoky.

I really wonder if it can be redone now without reshotting anything and maybe adding a less superhyper score too.

This film would have excelled if it was done in the style of Jabberwocky, yes.

Changing the CGI would have done nothing. If you liked the movie, you liked it. If you don't, you don't. If you don't like the story, or the characters, who gives a damn about the CGI?
