(Spoilers) The kind of sequel made by people who don't like sequels.

I thought about this recently: why would anybody make a sequel like this? They start out with a great premise, and then ruin it. They "kill" off the principal character, the protagonist of the series, the one you fell in love with in the first movie. They basically give her the worst end she can possibly imagined. Meanwhile, the relationship between the sisters, which was the very heart and soul of the first movie, is thrown away by the end. Instead, the movie switches subjects in the very middle to Ghost, pretty much saying they were bored.

The producer, Steve Hoban, says that he would be interested in continuing the series with Ghost, which is the equivalent of saying that he wants to change subjects, too. They might as well put a different name on the series if they do that.

The more I think about it, the more I think this is a movie you make to kill off a series and confound people who would have liked it continued. And it has done both.

That goes double for the prequel.

Is Unleashed good, then? In that it still delivered a story and otherwise did what the people in charge of it wanted it to do? Yes.

As I said in my review, this film has many weaknesses and for me the worst out of the series. I managed to watch this trilogy for the first time over April 30th - May 2nd and if you check Australian moon cycle I happened to get it at a full moon. I watched all of them at 3am (That was something I used to do - get up at 3am to do god knows what). Even with my half awake state I could still feel being partially ripped off.

I have to disagree with the prequel though. In my eyes - yes they are trying to "beat a dead horse" but at least they ignored that Ghost continuation. The only way I could have seen a 3rd movie being any better is if they remade the sequel and the only formula I've seen yet that would have worked is yours for "The Feral Bond" but as far as movies go...do people here remember the Highlander films? They kept remaking the sequel until they got the guy from the TV series into the movies with Christopher Lambert then they made even MORE crap sequels until 2007 when they made a "reimagined" sequel featuring the revenge story of Colin MacLeod in Highlander The Search For Vengeance. Problem is that was an anime made 21 years after the original and ignores the existence of Connor and The Kurgan. Unless they filmed your book I don't see any more continuations of GS that would be any good besides the prequel (That 7 I gave Unleashed is "at best", at worst I'd probably agree with you and give it 3). It is also true I have taken repeated viewings of the trilogy at appropriate times with the most viewed being the original.

Yes, but it just occurred to me that maybe they did it this way because they were trying to kill the series? I mean, anybody who knew the story had to respect Brigitte. Yet, they give her just the cruelest fate. One I think was designed to pi*ss off as many of the fans as they could.

I have to agree there. The ending of this film is definately not a satisfactory one and as you said designed to piss off as many fans as they could.

That is an awful idea. Ghost is my least favourite character in the entire series. If they want to make a movie about a psycho kid who brings people to her home to get eaten by a Werewolf, then that's completely fine. Just don't call it Ginger Snaps.

I think it's his point to say a sequel would be a bad idea.

The one thing Ginger Snaps deserves as a continuation is something set inbetween Ginger Snaps 1 and 2, to basically tell things that this movie didn't (eg, Who the F##k is Bridgette's Werewolf Stalker) because the Werewolf stalker is the lasiest written part of the story (aside from the masturbation scene and the ending - both of which were AWFUL!!!)
