Does Evan annoy anyone else?
i really like the show, but evan seems so conceited, lazy, and self-centered.

Well, he's annoying in the "High Scool Student Council President" way. That annoyingly perfect guy who doesn't realize he's perfect.
shareAre we watching the same show? I think evan is a good as the host. Then again someone said he 'seems' conceited. Seems is the key word for a guy you never met. Home owners who post of the tlc boards have good impressions of the cast.
shareHmm.. He can be annoying when he intentionally sings off-key, but even then he's funny and entertaining. I can see why he might annoy other people. I'm easily amused though. :-)
In what way does he seem conceited. Any examples?
He likes to play around and pretend stuff, but I think he actually feels very self-conscious and needs external validation.
He's definitely not lazy. This is a man who got up and went to work with the flue and pneumonia despite the fact that he could barely stand and had to go to the hospital to get IV fluids. He had to dance for 8 hours and was puking between takes. A lazy person would've called in sick.
Mark Montano said Evan has the hardest job. He has to be there for every episode. He has to work on day 0 doing voiceovers, research, and sometimes join in on the shopping. Just because he isn't always building or painting on camera does not mean he's not working. When everyone else is finished working he has to go back and watch the tapes and do voiceovers and stuff. He even came back from the hospital after cutting off part of his finger so he could continue working. He's continued working when having severe allergies and nearly losing his voice. A lazy or selfish person would've asked for time off.
He doesn't strike me as self centered. Albeit he seems to want approval from others, but he really seems to care about other people. If he didn't care about others he wouldn't do things for charity. He helps to raise awareness and funding for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and the Michael Cuccione Foundation. He sold CDs from his website and donated a good portion of the profits to those charities. That does not seem self-centered to me.
I should know all about laziness. I am probably the laziest person on the planet. lol. I'm not even awake the same number of hours in a week that Evan works in a single episode...

Yeah. I think Andrew seemed to get that way toward the end of the show. Some of the last few homeowners didn't have very flattering things to say about Andrew. He was just really burnt out by then. Although from the very first time I saw Andrew, he was acting rather like a jerk so I didn't really care for him. I don't hate him or anything though. I just didn't like his attitude.
