Awesome movie...but one question...

Is Bone an avenging angel or something? He seems almost unhuman at times and Michael Jai almost gives an eerily ethereal performance. Added to this, the character Bone never shows fear, worry or doubt...ever.

Maybe it was just me but when he quoted Khan it felt more like he was sent to set things straight, especially considering his dis-interest for any personal gain in whatever he did.

...or, was his character simply written to be the most honorable, unselfish human being ever?

You just answered your own question, it's both ) This is a perfect character for this kind of movie, basically Van Damme's Lionheart. Michael Jai White isn't as soft or feminine as Van Damme was, so it's only right that he doesn't do that same character, he basically plays an avenging angel.

I actually think Damage was more like Lionheart, and this was more like an martial art version of Clint Eastwood revenge western like Pale Rider and High Plains Drifter. A mysterious stranger comes into town for revenge, but instead of gun fights there is martial art fights.
