Cyberbrains?

Is there ever an in-depth explanation of how a cyberbrain works? I’ve spent a while trying to fathom how they could possibly work, I just don’t see how they could take an organic brain and download it into a cyber one.

The only theory I can sit happy with is that they are outer casings that read and translate the electrical singles from the brain into a language that the ports on the back of the head carry out. And in the cases of people with diseased or damaged brains cyberisation completes the brains but leaves the parts that carry identity, mainly the memory, intact. I mean any other way would mean people with cyberbrains were no longer who they were before, or technically human.

Why do people so frequently get told to "read the book" on a movie database?

I feel about the same way you do, I think i saw somewhere it still takes a warehouse full of modern computer equipment to replicate what one brain cell can do or something like that. though they do frequently speak of uploading themselves onto the net, so they must have gotten around whatever wall we're currently running into on computing power and storage space. the only thing that would leave any validity to an organic part would be the fact that everytime a head explodes on the show, even with a cyberbrain theres that white fluid shooting everywhere. it may be a blood replacement for the organic parts. so i just typed a paragraph and gained no ground. lol

A cyber-brain is a normal organic brain that has communication devices physically implanted into it, and the use of those devices is facilitated with micro-machines. Even people who undergo full-body cyberization like Batou and the Major still have at least their brains and spinal columns left intact.

I'm not sure what you're talking about when you mention "diseased or damaged brains," as the only people mentioned in the series with any sort of disease in their brains were the people with cyber-brain sclerosis or cyber-brain closed shell syndrome. Both of those disease are actually caused by the cyberization process, so I'm not sure what you're trying to get at when you mention cyberization "completing the brains."

in the first episode of sac the girl that got attacked at the resturaunt, they said they'd use prostectics to help with her speech

I stand corrected, but what was your question tied to that point?

You have it right. A cyberbrain, e-brain, or brain case is just an enclosure of the human organic brain with cybernetic implants for optimal efficiency in thinking and accessing information. The concept of your self identity is kept in your "ghost" or your inner consciousness.

Don't type at ME in that tone of voice!

I knew I was right about the nature of a cyber-brain. What I was wrong about was the fact that someone other than who I could recall received brain damage.
