The school shootings: SAC?

I don't know if ya'll have heard about the recent shootings in Finland, but now you have. I was just thinking watching the news that "this thing might not have happened without the internet, i.e. 3rd millennium technology... well, i guess this just had to happen eventually" and it got me thinking further: we are starting to see the Stand Alone Complex phenomena occur in real life! I mean this is not completely unlike the first season of SAC, or is it just me? Despite everything, it's kind of fascinating to witness the show become reality already, even when it's set so far into the future. Looks like the makers of SAC were onto something. Input?

No the string of school shootings is not a stand alone complex. The concept of a stand alone complex requires a set of copycats without an original from which to copy.

In the context of school shootings, there is a clear original from which the subsequent shooters are copying. The original is the 1966 University of Texas sniper. Every shooting since then has either gotten the idea directly from this shooting, or vicariously from someone who has.

In either case, there was a real person who really climbed the clock tower that day. It wasn't a fiction of any kind, which is the first necessary component of a stand alone complex.
