Ghost in the Shell 2nd GiG Opening?

Anyone know where the footage for the opening is from? Must be parts from one of the GitS: S.A.C. films.

Why 'must' it be from anything? And to answer you're question, no. It was drawn just for the title sequence... just like the opening of 1st Gig.

The opening of the 1st Gig had a little something with the show at least. I figured that the opening of the 2nd Gig was made of clips taken from things that happened during the season. It didn't look like some random sh!t that was drawn up just for a title sequence.

Better question is... why isn't the textless opening on the first DVD? It even says it's on there on the DVD case, but it's nowheres to be found. Or, was it an error made by Bandai?

To answer the main question, the opening theme to 2nd Gig is "Rise", sung by Origa. The music is done by Yoko Kanno and the lyrics by Tim Jensen. As for the scenes in the opening, they aren't germane to exact situations found in the season, but if you look closely the opening does show some important characters (Ghouda sitting next to a large screen, Motoko in all black standing across from Kuze, who's sitting in a chair in all white)
