While there is some creativity in your statement, the only reason would be that the 2nd Gig was named so. There is no original Laughing Man, there is however the original act that started it all and is considered by their to be the "Laughing Man's" first appearance (again, not officially), but can 2nd Gig be considered the original act?
Frankly, it's not quite an easy comparison.
