I didn't see it. But, William Gibson has a book by that name and he and others have been discussing it for years. It is definitely in the discussion atmosphere. The topic came up in my Sci-fi lit class a few years ago. In my sci-fi lit class, the professor broke ti down into 3 groups, based on what current-day scientists think, if I can remember:
1) Computers (networks really) will never be self-aware
2) Computers/networks could become self-aware, but we can avoid it through controls (read William Gibson's Neuromancer)
3) Computers/networks will become self-aware and there is nothing we can do about it.
