Some of the sliding doors have exactly the sound of the elevators in the first 2 Doom games. They're from a commercial sound library, but at least for me, having played those games quite a bit back in the day, I found it rather amusing. For example, the first minute of episode 18. I'm surprised if noone else has noticed.
shareI recognized the sounds, but couldn't tell specifically from where I remembered them. I just figured they were generic door opening sounds I've heard in a million other shows and games.
It's no wonder I didn't remember though, I haven't played either of the first two Doom games in like 15 or 16 years. (I'll stop now before I make us both feel too old.)
Doom-doorsounds are used in approximately zillion TV shows, movies, games, and such productions. I have heard them so much that I don't bother even reacting to it anymore.
I wonder how they made those sounds, though.. they do sound pretty cool.
