over the rainbow

seriously awesome end song for this anyone else like it?

It perfectly sums up the entire movie in 4 minutes. I consider Jane Monheit's version to be the greatest end titles song of All Time. But then, I consider Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow to be the greatest movie of All Time.

I thought it was a bad choice because imo it hurt the film's box office. Partly because it ties into the scene in the movie theater where the Wizard of Oz was playing in the background.

The target audience for this movie should have been young males who wanted to see an action film.
The Wizard of Oz is considered a kid's movie. And that kills the gritty vibe that action movie fans were expecting.

Also the message of 'over the rainbow' is wrong for this kind of film.
The song is about dreams. If Sky Captain was just a dream, then why should the audience care?

The audience needs to suspend disbelief. Reminding them that the movie is just complete fantasy is the wrong message imo.

And it's a shame because I really liked Sky Captain. I hoped it would do well and maybe get a sequel.
Instead unfortunately it bombed.

it's just in my opinion - imo -

If they had to use it at all, it would have made more sense to use the version from the film but I suppose Turner would have charged them an arm and a leg.
