Book

For those of you who have read the book, does it follow the movie exactly? Like does it explain Mathilde & Manech before the war.I was just wondering.

Thanks

You should say: the movie doesn't follow exactly the book because the book was written at first. The relationship between Manech and Mathilde is a little different in the book, but really good described.
In the book, Mathilde can't walk and her parents are alive. She does not live in Bretagne /Britain but in Hossegor, a village in South-West of France (Aquitaine). The Corsican is not Corsican, is coming from Marseille and he is not so good in the book as in the movie. He wanted to betray French position in order to save his skin. I appreciated this changement from the book.
I like both: movie and book. I watched first the movie and read after the book.

They have it in Barnes & Noble. In English unfortunately. You might be able to order from them the French version.

Try Amazon.com to find it in French or English. After reading the novel in both languages, I thought the English translation was very well done. Either way, it's an excellent story.

There are a few things changed - but very few. All in all, I think this is a really great adaptation.

I found it at the library in Munich. The German translation is also really good.
