A forgotten film

I totally agree. I was the only one in my family who seemed to really like this movie. It was intense and solemn, but I felt it was so well done and should have been a major Oscar player. I also agree with the comparisons to Blood Diamond and Miami Vice. I think Blood Diamond is remembered because it was Leo's best performance ever and had plenty of action to boot. Miami Vice (which I am a HUGE fan of) has gained a small, yet very very vocal cult following consisting mostly of fans of the director, Michael Mann. So I can see why those two movies are talked about more today, but I think The Good Shepherd was one of the best films of 2006.

This boys life, and basketball dairies were strong performances to me even though he was much younger. Blood Diamond was good, but I think those were better..,

Just saw tailor tinker solider spy, and thought that GS was ever bit as good or even better to me. Even though TTSP was received better. I'd throw Munich in that mix as well.

This film is not for all tastes but for the patient viewer it has a lot to offer.

yes I had never heard it and only rented it when I found it in a DVD rent store that had a large section of "thoughtful" films. It is very underrated and under appreciated, but the problem is that most people like fast action films and this is slow and thoughtful. It is similar to Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy in terms of pacing, though I think that TTSS is a better film... but both are well worth watching if you like a film that takes it time.

i like the movie and watch it whenever it's on. i've seen it many times and i still get confused about certain parts, haha.
