oke, why would there be a russian spy in the Congo?? And what was Edward

junior doing in the congo? What were the KGB AND the CIA doing in the congo??

Congo gained independence from Belgium in 1960, the bay of pigs was in 1961. What were these spies looking for in the congo?? It 's not like the congo was an international threath to the USA or to russia, there was no communism, the belgians had left so it had nothing to do with europe anymore. The congo was of no importance at that time.

What sort of a gestapo officer are you, saying somebody is innocent?

The Congo was considered of great importance and one of the most well known showdowns in the third world battleground of the Cold War. The US was successful in overthrowing a, presumed, communist leader in Lummumba and replacing him with an anti-communist, pro-west dictator (One of the worst in all of Africa) in Mobutu. Hell, even Che Guevara tried to get involved in the Congo. It was a major spot in the Cold War 60s.

It wasn't just the Congo. Central Africa was a major front in the cold war until the 80s. You've probably heard of Soldier of Fortune magazine, it was a mag for mercenaries, many of which were employed by both sides in conflicts in Africa in that time period.

Further, for example, in Blood Diamond, the 3-2 Buffalo Battalion that DeCaprio was a former member of (and Vosloo's character and all his henchmen) was a part-mercenary South African force used to combat communist-backed forces in the regions north of South Africa.

The African dictators learned their brutality from some of the best.

It was a big bloody war for a long time.
