Was Laura possibly (spoiler)

...a spy. It seems at the earlier part of the movie that the crucifix necklace had a small black piece on the back of it.

When the necklace is returned to Laura much later in the movie, this piece is no longer there.

That, connected with the fact that he managed to be snapped in compromising pictures, creates a possible condition for some sort of collusion of Laura with the Enemy(whoever that might represent at anyone moment).

perhaps the Soviets got to her in the later part of the movie, but in the beginning i don't think so. i mean Edward was still in college, so how would he even be on anyone's radar at that point?

It's either way. Probably she is genuine and in the movie to prove he didn't like his wife because he was interested in this girl and shunned his wife

I don't think she was a spy. I think the CIA top officials were probably kept tabs on by either the CIA or FBI and the photos were sent to say "don't proceed with this".

The CIA or the FBI would sent the photos to Wilson, not his wife. Maybe sent by Arch Cummings?

reply

No, i dont think she was a spy.. She had nothing to offer but an old connection to Wilson.
The movie establishes that he's not a "talker", and Ulysses recognized that trying to pry something out of him was a waste of time.
I dont see the practical use, other than getting some photos to send to his wife..
Just seems counter-productive, as men with trouble at the homefront tend to pour more hours into their works in liue of going home and facing the music.

Was she in a picture when Wilson mad the Russian play the violin? I thought he spotted her in a framed picture when he was giving the room a once over.
