Ulysses book
What is the significance of Edward finding materials in the Ulysses book?
shareIt proved his doubts about Miranov #1. Remember the interrogation scene of the second person who claimed he was the actual Miranov. There is a posting about that scene. Many of us believe that Wilson began to doubt #1 after #2 stuck to his story after being injected with the LSD.
shareExactly. Miranov #2 said that Miranov #1's real name was Yuri, which is what it said in the passport Wilson found in the book. Furthermore, the fact that the British agent (Billy Crudup, forget the character's name) gave the book to Yuri proved that he was a traitor.
shareYeah, but who put the book in Wilson office and why?
shareDude, did you not watch the movie at all or what? I know it's slow, but you kinda gotta pay attention to it in order to actually claim you watched it. Go rent it and watch the movie again and pay attention so you can answer your own question

Oh, you think it's an obvious question. Right.
So, in your opinion, the obvious person to put the book there would be...?
I have no faith in the future of humanity.
shareThat's why you're not gonna have kids.
We don't need any more rotten dna around.
The reason I don't want kids is because I fear the direction humanity is going.
shareGuys, guys, guys!!!! C'mon! You're crackin me up.
It's only a movie, although at times a bit complicated and sometimes slow...it is just an eff'n movie.
soulsurfer, go rent it and check it out...I think you'll enjoy it once you get into the plot and intrigue the script has. I liked the way Wilson revealed more of himself as the story unfolded, even though he was painfully hidden around his young son. I suppose that he was a product of one of those stoic generations before me. Being a CIA operative had a lot to do with his persona as well, I am sure. Go enjoy this film's intricate story and glaring plot lines.

Agree. That guy soulsurfer is clearly a lazy guy who always ask for feeding... *sigh*
shareI assumed Edward put the book in his own office. It was a thoughtful gift and the KGB was hoping he would do so. (I assume that little thing he found in it was a microphone of some sort.)
shareThe book is not in Wilson's office, it's in Yuri/Mironov's office.
Another thing -- Wilson's suspicions are aroused when he sees that the ADJACENT book has been slightly raised -- that way, if someone removed the Ulysses book, the adjacent book would come back to rest on the shelf, and Yuri/Mironov would know that the Ulysses book had been removed and put back.
The book also had no publisher's name at the bottom like all the others in the row. Pretty foolish to leave it there , especially with the contraband inside.
shareBut why would he keep incriminating materials about himself? Why not destroy them?
shareSeriously? I have to agree with the other posters, no hope for the future of humanity. But if you really need it explained I will, with great exasperation.
The book was given to him....as in it became his property and part of his book collection.....that was his office, where he had some of his books....so....he put it there. You know, because it's his office? You following yet? Don't know how to make it any clearer.

They have the answer, IMHO.
