Did any profits from this film go to victims families?

I know that serial killers are not allowed to profit from their crimes when they are alive (books, movie deal and such). But how about after they are executed?

Is there any law that requires a film company that wants to capatialize on a serial killers exploits to compensate the families?

Film cost $8 mil / Gross $32 mil. Did ANY money made from this film go to familes of those killed?

reply

No,and no law. Most of the names used in the film (including Selby)were fictional. The men were not identified although some of them resembled the real ones.

That is a shame, because this is a great movie. It makes it harder to watch knowing that a movie company is making a profit off of people who really lost their lives to make the story true.

The same could be said with the movie 'In Cold Blood'.

I guess if the movie company DID give some money (even a token amount) to the victims families, that that could open up the door to lawsuits from the families seeking a greater reward.

tricks,
they didn't die to make the story true, they died because aileen killed them for her own reasons.

the deaths occurred long before the movie was made.

Those guys might have been desperate enough to pick up a women who looks like a used up crackhead. But they didn't deserve what happened to them.

Looks like you're on the message board for a different movie. One that doesn't portray the murders of real-life innocent people. Hey, it happens to the best of us.

You look here, you lowly piece of trash. David Spears was my grandma's younger brother and he was not scum. He was a nice and decent man raised by a wonderful mother and had 11 wonderful siblings.

It takes a sick and revolting human being to insult the victims and family of a disgusting and worthless serial killer like this disgusting woman was.

How about knowing what you are talking about before opening your mouth and being an idiot?

I, for the most part, tend to agree with this statement. But maybe some of them weren't scum.

Point is....you never know what you're getting into when you pick up a lady of the night...and vice versa...you never know what you're getting into when you decide to pick up a john. Prostitution should be legalized and regulated to avoid the craziness that comes when society tries to force its morality on people who don't want it.

I think in Denmark it is legal but pimps are illegal. Here we go...

"Prostitution in Denmark was decriminalised in 1999, based partly on the premise that it was easier to police a legal trade than an illegal one. Third party activities, such as profiting from brothel administration and other forms of procuring, remain illegal activities in Denmark, as do pimping and prostitution by non-residents."
