Why did Mars like Jennifer so much?

I know he needed her because she was his hostage, but I don't get why he developed a weird, semi-romantic attachment to her. It seems very out of character for him.

she was his type?

Considering the way she looked, maybe he felt she wasn't just this good little girl but a slut he'd like to have his way with.

why are any of us drawn to anyone else? I'd guess it was a combination of her clothing, attitude (giving Idiot the finger) and of course her being at his mercy

Just seems to go along with everything else........Why did a simple car jack suddenly become a cop killing just because he found out that there's a war rent out for them for car jacking? Even if they had to get busted for that they'd probably been out in five years or so and I'm pretty sure they knew that, but Mars seemed to act on impulse. Same with her. He wanted her so he basically claimed her in his mind

If we could answer that, we could answer how attraction works, and no one really has their thumb on that. We can speculate though.

So my theory is that Mars was definitely attracted to and an admirer of death, and sees it as an entity that he can summon anytime he chooses. So perhaps he saw Jennifer as death's embodiment, and was immediately drawn to her.

That's just how I saw things. We really knew so little about Mars. He's a goldmine for psycho therapists.
