How did Walter Smith get the gun at the end?

I'm assuming Talley gave him a gun to pull out at the end at the final shootout but the gun is not in his hands when he kills the main bad guy. It just shows up out of nowhere in his hand.

In the ambulance, the scene shows that there are 2 guns presence (1:39:20), right? That's the clue

But it is not in his hand before he shoots the main bad guy. If it was the bad guys would have seen it long before he used it.

I think it was in his pocket because they would assume, since he had a gun to his head and was being led in by Willis, that he wasn't armed.
