gay kissing in movies

I really liked the ideas behind this movie and the way things were presented.

One thing I noticed about this movie and most other movies with "gay" or "straight" love scenes is that the kissing tends to look forced, sterile, or fake. The kissing here looked like the guys simply pressed their faces against each other for brief moments. It looked like there was more lip movement between the male friends when they were giving their normal 'kiss hellos' and 'kiss goodbyes'.
The reason it seems strange is that the same guys didn't seem to have trouble rolling all over each other in the nude. I've seen this before in other movies and I find it amusing that it's easier to get actors to engage in frottage than in simple kissing.

This is true even with lesbian kissing. I can only think of two movies in which the actors seemed to get into the kissing and made it believable: Beautiful Thing and The Velocity of Gary. In those movies I BELIEVED that those people were into each other. Those kisses were among the most passionate and genuine and realistic kisses I have ever seen in film, homo or hetero.

Or else they look like they are chewing each other by moving their jaws, but you KNOW there is no tongue action. It's all very silly, you're absolutely right.

If the Kingdom of Heaven is like a grain of mustard, It can also be like a chicken-pox mark.

Kissing in general is probably more intimate than sex. Prostitutes don't kiss, but do perform oral sex, so I guess it is not easy for actors to kiss either.

Hey! Prostitutes ki.. oh wait, ummm, i wouldn't know...

At the end of the excellent film MAURICE, there is a juicy, passionate kiss between the two actors--it's absolutely real. Rupert Graves' post-kiss saliva stretches from his mouth to James Wilby's in a most convincing manner.

And yes--kissing IS more intimate than being nude together. That's true in Life, so why shouldn't it be true on screen? Heck, I've seen hard-core gay porn where the kisses were obviously fake or forced.

"Thank you, thank you--you're most kind. In fact you're every kind."

lol, I love this thread!

In my weeks of watching gay kisses on YouTube, I've noticed the same thing. There are very few guys that use tongue when kissing another guy in a movie. When they do, it's much more realistic, more sensual, just more 'hot'!

"Maurice" is one of my all time favorite movies, gay or straight. The chemistry between James Wilby and the beautiful Rupert Graves is amazing, and makes the story all the more believable. And the kiss at the end is their only on-screen kiss in the movie, and it's very romantic and real. But then, it was in the hands of the masters, Merchant/Ivory, so it's to be expected.

"Beautiful Thing" is another favorite of mine, which I recently discovered. There is a ton of chemistry between the two leads, Jamie (Glen Berry) and Ste (Scot Neal), and I think it could be because the two knew each other prior to filming, and even acted together. They are so adorable together, and their kiss in the woods is so sweet. I love the way they stop in the middle of it and smile at each other!

Another hot kiss with tongue is in "Gypsy 83", between Paulo Costanzo and Kett Turton.

I could go on and on about great kisses between guys, but I'll spare you.
