....should be destroyed in the future, why didnt he destroy it back then when he 'saw' this through the lens? There would have been no reason then, to tamper with the envelope and put the keycard in there too.???

(I guess there would have been a very short movie too!)

Really going out on a limb here, but maybe he *saw* this was the only way he would make it out alive with the money

Yes. Destroying the machine might have prevented most of the problems, but it would also have given him NO PAYCHECK.

The machine shows him what is going to happen. He saw himself doing these things and realized that was what he had to do.
